Conservation workshops for rural landowners

Oct. 10, 5-6:30pm, Oakdale. Oriental bittersweet

Nov. 4, 6-8pm, Stillwater. Large acreage restoration

Nov. 13, 2:30-4:30pm, Stillwater. Estate planning

TOP 5 conservation practices local farmers are interested in (based on 367 survey responses):

  • Improving soil health (223)     

  • Installing physical projects such as grassed waterways, windbreaks, sediment basins (162)

  • Planting cover crops for the winter (149)

  • Converting less productive land to natural areas - woods, wetlands or prairie (146)

Master Water Stewards

We have 12 people enrolled for Master Water Stewards this fall. The stewards will learn through a mix of online coursework and two in-person classes:

  • Mon., Sept. 16, 5:30-8:30pm; and

  • Sat., Oct. 5, 9am-3pm

MS4 Toolkit

The MS4 Toolkit is now online at the MPCA Stormwater Wiki. New materials will be coming soon, including videos on:

  • Preventing stormwater pollution

  • Lawn Care

  • Planting for Clean Water

  • Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
