RAIN GAUGE PROGRAM

The WCD rain gauge program is designed to monitor annual precipitation throughout the county by use of a rain gauge. The WCD has 22 volunteer rain gauge readers throughout the county collecting the data.

The purpose of this program is to provide point-precipitation data, document long-range climatic trends, and to verify precipitation totals that automated systems have recorded. The data collected by volunteers is sent monthly to the Minnesota Climatology Working Group and entered into their database.
