South Washington Watershed District

The South Washington Watershed District (SWWD) is located entirely in Washington County and contains portions of eight cities and townships:  Afton, Cottage Grove, Grey Cloud Island Township, Lake Elmo, Newport, Oakdale, St. Paul Park and Woodbury.

Planting for Clean Water

SWWD has cost-share grants available for residents and businesses wishing to  improve surface water quality within the SWWD boundary.

The maximum levels of cost share funding are $2,500 per single family residence project, $5,000 per neighborhood project, and $20,000 per commercial/industrial or municipal project.

2012 Special Projects

SWWD will be working with residents around Colby Lake and Powers Lake to install raingardens in targeted locations to improve water quality in these two lakes.
