Middle St. Croix Watershed Management Organization Landfall

The Middle St. Croix watershed encompasses approximately 19.8 square miles and is located in the east-central part of Washington County. The watershed is unique in that it has many small, parallel watersheds that all flow to the St. Croix, whereas the other watersheds in the County generally have one major drainage with a headwaters and outlet. Land use in the watershed is evenly distributed between agricultural uses, rural residential and high-density residential/commercial land uses.

Cost-share Grants

Priority will be given to projects in the Lily Lake and McKusick Lake Watersheds in Stillwater, where subwatershed studies were recently completed. Contact Amy Carolan to learn more.

The MSCWMO has small grants available for land owners wishing to improve surface water quality in the watershed. Projects that might qualify for Water Quality Cost-Share Grants include: rainwater gardens, infiltration trenches, porous pavement, and other innovative approaches to treat stormwater runoff at the source. Contact Amy Carolan to schedule a free site visit.
